TTFH hosts this blog but does not necessarily vet its content. Spotted this tree in Alexandra Park recently near the cork oak down from the Phoenix pub. It still some green leaves and I have tentively identified it as a Turners Oak. This is a cross between Holm Oak and English Oak both of which are present in the park.

Waarom zijn wij zo happig op haring happen? Naast de goudgele ronde kazen, de plakkerige zoete stroopwafels en de gekke zwarte dropjes, zijn de zoute haringen erg in trek bij toeristen. Niet zozeer de lekkernij is populair, maar vooral de manier waarop deze vis gegeten wordt; uit het vuistje. Het haring happen doen wij Nederlanders erg graag. Per hoofd van de bevolking eten wij gemiddeld 5,2 stuks haring per jaar. Wat maakt deze vis nou zo bijzonder? Wat zit er allemaal in haring? .
